Description/Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Clinical Systems is a newly formed position focused outward and operationally to ensure the technology platforms that power Tivity’s clinical businesses are stable, compliant, and continuously evolving to support growth, quality, and cost efficiency.

 

Accountable for day-to-day reliability & performance of clinical applications and systems, including Network Management, Utilization Management, Claims, and supporting platforms.

  • Owns production stability (high availability, incident response, and problem management) to minimize operational disruption to providers, members, and clients.
  • Owns vendor accountability for clinical system partners (e.g., network, UM, and claims platforms), ensuring SLAs, issue resolution, and roadmap alignment meet clinical business needs.
  • Owns clinical systems roadmaps & change management including predictable upgrades, well-tested enhancements, and technical debt reduction through simplification, decommissioning, and integration improvements.

 

This leader partners closely with Tivity Technology teams (Infrastructure, Security, Data, Development, DevOps), business operations, and clinical leadership to ensure clinical platforms and systems are supported through standardized, scalable services—while enabling compliance, operational quality, and business growth.

 

 

Clinical Application Operations & Enablement

  • Production Stability: Ensure high availability, incident response, and problem management across clinical systems; establish operational runbooks and escalation paths to minimize disruption.
  • Vendor Accountability: Act as the primary technology owner for clinical system vendors; manage SLAs, issue resolution, and roadmap alignment to clinical line of business needs.
  • Change Management: Govern upgrades, enhancements, and vendor releases to ensure changes are predictable, well-tested, and aligned with operational readiness and business calendars.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure clinical systems meet regulatory, security, and audit requirements (HIPAA, data privacy, client commitments); proactively identify operational and vendor risks and implement mitigation strategies.

 

Application Roadmaps, Technical Debt Reduction & Shared Services Partnership

  • Application Roadmaps: Collaborate to develop a multi-year roadmap for clinical systems, balancing regulatory needs, operational efficiency, and business-driven enhancements.
  • Technical Debt Reduction: Drive simplification, decommissioning, and integration improvements across the clinical system landscape to reduce complexity, improve resilience, and lower cost.
  • Shared Services Partnership: Work closely with Tivity Technology teams (Infrastructure, Security, Data, Development, DevOps) to ensure clinical systems are supported through standardized, scalable platforms and operational practices.

 

Clinical Quality Enablement & Operational Alignment

  • Clinical Quality Enablement: Partner with clinical leadership to ensure systems support accurate utilization review, network integrity, claims processing, and required reporting.
  • Operational Governance: Establish operating rhythms for vendor performance, incident trends, backlog prioritization, and release readiness; ensure stakeholders have clear visibility and decision rights.
  • Performance & Service Reporting: Define and publish service health metrics (availability, incident trends, SLA adherence, cycle time for fixes/changes) and use them to drive continuous improvement with Shared Services and vendors.

Roadmap delivery & change predictability

Deliver a multi-year clinical systems roadmap with quarterly milestones; improve change success rate via standardized testing, release governance, and operational readiness practices.

Regulatory compliance & audit readiness

Maintain HIPAA and data privacy controls; close audit findings on time; ensure client and regulatory commitments are met through documented controls and evidence.

Clinical operations enablement

Improve accuracy and timeliness of utilization review, network management, claims processing, and reporting through prioritized enhancements and tight operational partnership.

Technical debt reduction & simplification

Decommission or consolidate low-value tools, reduce manual workarounds, and improve integrations/data flows to lower run costs and operational risk.

Shared services alignment & scalability

Improve platform standardization with Shared Services (security, infrastructure, data, DevOps); reduce single points of failure and increase automation/self-service for support and changes.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineering leader: Engineering background with a practical understanding of data, key healthcare transactions, reporting, and clinical applications.
  • Operator-Leader: A directory level leader who thrives in day-to-day operational accountability while shaping the roadmap for continuous improvement.
  • Clinical Platform Ownership: Proven experience owning enterprise applications and experience with Clinical Applications and Claims. A strong understanding of operational workflows and dependencies.
  • Vendor Management & Accountability: Demonstrated ability to manage vendors to outcomes—SLA performance, transparent communication, and roadmap delivery tied to business priorities.
  • Compliance & Security Mindset: Strong track record ensuring HIPAA/data privacy compliance, audit readiness, and risk management for regulated healthcare technology platforms.
  • Service Management Excellence: Comfortable leading incident/problem/change management, building operational rhythms, and using service metrics to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative Partner: Strong collaborator with Tivity Technology Shared Services, Operations, and Clinical leadership; able to influence across teams to deliver stable platforms and business outcomes.
