  • Description/Responsibilities

    The Executive Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations provides information technical leadership across the organization and lead multiple IT infrastructure services areas. This role will initially manage two service towers, data center and database services with the potential to expand the role to lead other IT services areas.  Responsibilities include oversight of the planning, design, implementation, and operational stability of the Information Technology infrastructure, regulatory compliance, implementation of standard ITIL processes (incident, problem, change), application release/deployment management and service desk support for the enterprise.

     

    This role is accountable for the successful implementation and on-going stability and operations of the network, storage, and server (physical/virtual/cloud/IaaS) based infrastructures in support of tactical and strategic business initiatives.  In cooperation with business stakeholders, enterprise security, governance, legal, procurement, and other departmental leaders as required, this individual will gain organizational commitment for emerging infrastructure-related projects, investments, and budgets within their sphere of influence.  He/she will lead and mentor departmental employees, proactively manage vendor partners, sponsor professional service engagements, respond to regulatory audits and the implementation of identified controls, and assume responsibility as the face to the business for end user computing and support.

     

    Strategy & Planning

    1. Provide overall direction in the design and implementation of long-term strategic and short-term tactical plans that will enable business success.
    2. Ensure alignment of proposed/existing services with organizational goals and objectives.
    3. Act as a liaison between the application development teams in support of requirements gathering to ensure alignment with short-term and long-term strategic planning
    4. Collaborate on the Release Management (RM) function and deployment functions by instituting and demonstrating industry best practices for release, configuration, and implementation management.

     

    Operational Management

    1. Confer with end-users, vendors, clients, and other senior managers to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
    2. Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and design models.
    3. Establish SLA metrics and report performance to the business
    4. Oversee the execution of execute test plans to check infrastructure, capacity, and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications

    • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems (Master’s degree preferred).
    • ITIL Service Strategy, Design, Operations, Capacity Management and CSI certifications preferred.
    • Project Management Certifications (CAPM, PMP) a plus.
    • Ten or more years related work experience required.
    • Excellent written and oral/presentation skills
    • Extensive background leading projects to deploy physical, cloud, virtual, SaaS and IaaS services
    • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
    • Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
    • Working technical knowledge of current hosted, public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
    • Extensive infrastructure experience with Microsoft solution stack (sizing, provisioning, diagnosing)
    • Proven project planning and vendor management experience.
    • Support and operations of large SQLServer databases and ETL engines
    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices, HIPAA, and SOX regulations
    • Adaptive situational leadership practices
    • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
    • Negotiation and contracting skills
    • Excellent systems level architecture and technical background
    • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Experience leading team-oriented, matrixed, collaborative environments
