  • Description/Responsibilities

    Support general accounting and related general ledger functions to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to all levels of management. Assist in interpretation and analysis of financial results and budget/forecast variances related to the balance sheet and income statement.  Maintain accounting policies and procedures.  Document, assess, and implement internal controls as needed in conjunction with Sarbanes-Oxley.  Determine, develop and implement new efficiencies and process improvements as requested.  Prepare analyses and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.


    Responsibilities Include:


    • Support general accounting and monthly financial close processes. Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Ensure all closing and external reporting deadlines and accounting standards are met.
    • Research, interpret and ensure compliance with GAAP.
    • Support and improve business processes and accounting information systems by working directly with Corporate Systems and other departments to ensure the accuracy, usefulness and timeliness of financial statements provided to management and external auditors.
    • Assist in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.       This includes, but is not limited to, activate participation in control matrix and process narrative updates, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and assistance, as needed, in the ongoing development and implementation of new controls, policies and procedures.
    • Provide assistance as needed to support Management’s Discussion and Analysis contained in SEC filings.
    • Assist in the year-end financial statement audit and quarterly reviews with the external auditors, specifically in the preparation of audit schedules.
    • Participate as necessary in accounting integration of business acquisitions.
    • Provide assistance to Financial Planning & Analysis in developing various estimates for use in the annual budget and monthly forecast updates.
    • Support cost center owners in research and analysis of financial results.


    - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.


    - Two years of progressive accounting experience is preferred.


    - Public accounting or internal audit experience is a plus.


    - Knowledge of GAAP and all aspects of general accounting.


    - Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and other colleagues, demonstrating initiative, mature judgment, and adaptability. 


    - Strong communication (verbal and written), project management, and analytical skills.


    - Must possess high degree of professionalism and strong customer service skills.


    - Effective organizational skills including the ability to work independently and consistently meet department/reporting deadlines. 


    - Proficient with Microsoft Excel and accounting information systems.  Experience using Oracle E-Business Suite is preferred.
